Privacy policy

RakoonTV attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data. This policy explains which data we process, why, for how long, and what your rights are, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act.
1. Data controller
The data controller is TENSAI IT, publisher of RakoonTV. For any question about your data, contact us at privacy@rakoontv.fr.
2. Data we collect
Account data
- Email address (login identifier);
- Password, stored only in hashed form (scrypt) — we never know your password in clear text;
- Public username (« @handle »), if you choose one.
Service usage data
- Series and movies you follow and their status (watchlist, in progress, watched);
- Your episode-by-episode progress;
- Your ratings, comments, reactions and reports;
- Your friendships and the watch-time leaderboard;
- Unlocked badges and your statistics (watch time, genres).
TV Time import (optional)
If you import your history from TV Time, the file you provide is processed to recreate your tracking in RakoonTV. It is not kept beyond the processing of the import.
Technical data
- IP address and technical logs, used for security and abuse limitation (anti-spam, rate-limiting);
- Authentication tokens stored on your device (secure storage on mobile, to keep you signed in).
3. Purposes and legal bases
- Providing the service (account, tracking, progress, social) — performance of the terms of use you accept;
- Security and abuse prevention (rate-limiting, moderation) — legitimate interest;
- Service improvement — legitimate interest;
- Possible communications (e.g. service information) — your consent where required.
4. Data recipients
Your data is intended for TENSAI IT and its technical subcontractors (hosting). We do not sell your data. Series and movie metadata comes from TheTVDB: requests to that service are made by our server and do not transmit any of your personal data to it.
5. Location and transfers
Your data is hosted in France (European Union). We do not transfer your personal data outside the European Union. Should such a transfer occur, it would be governed by the safeguards provided for by the GDPR (standard contractual clauses).
6. Retention period
Your account and usage data is kept for as long as your account is active. Upon deletion of your account, it is erased or anonymised within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention obligations. Technical logs are kept for a limited period for security purposes.
7. Your rights
In accordance with the GDPR, you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability of your data. You may also set instructions regarding the fate of your data after your death.
To exercise these rights, write to privacy@rakoontv.fr. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
8. Security
We implement appropriate technical measures: hashed passwords (scrypt), encryption of exchanges in transit (HTTPS/TLS), request rate-limiting and security best practices. As no system is infallible, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Cookies and trackers
The rakoontv.fr showcase site does not use advertising cookies or tracking technologies for monitoring purposes. The application only uses technical storage necessary for your authentication (session tokens). No third-party audience-measurement cookie is set without your consent.
10. Minors
The service is not intended for children under 15 without the authorisation of the holder of parental authority. If you believe a minor has provided us with data without such authorisation, contact us so that we can delete it.
11. Changes
This policy may change. In the event of a substantial modification, we will inform you by an appropriate means. The update date appears at the top of the page.
